Well designed with molded flower ports that are easy to clean. Small capacity means no more discarding old syrup; the hummingbirds prefer these feeders to the larger capacity models. As the hummingbirds are fiercely territorial it is better to provide multiple feeders of this size.

We live in central Connecticut. We just filled it up with sugar water, put it out next to a pink hanging plant, and, voila, hummingbirds! This one really does work – easy, not too messy.

These are terrific. I bought two. They are easy to fill and clean, the built-in ant moat is helpful, and the hummingbirds like them. We have more hummingbird visitors now than before. The tiny birds can sit down and take a much needed rest while they sip the nectar. They look relieved to take a little break. These feeders are small, which is great because they are easy to handle. For good hygiene, you must change the sugar water every few days anyway, and small feeders mean less discarded sugar water at feeder-cleaning time.

If you get what you pay for, the Aspects hummingbird feeder is first rate–most durable bird feeder that I have ever purchased. I’ve had it for 3 seasons going into the fourth and it shows no signs of breaking or discoloring–even the perch is in great shape. It is NOT plastic, but styrene, a more durable material. At 8 oz. it’s a perfect size as I mix 16 oz of nectar and I have two feeders. I typically get 3 – 4 hummingbirds at a time buzzing back and forth from their nests in the woods. The larger feeders may not empty soon enough before the contents need replacing unless you have lots of hummers all day long. Bees can sometimes be a problem in mid-summer. Cleaning the feeder is very easy and changing the nectar once a week seems to deter bees and wasps. BTW, the recipe for homemade nectar is inside the lid–no need to buy expensive shelf products. It’s nice to have a bird feeder that lasts!

This feeder is the best one could imagine. It resists wind sway, no drips, no ants, no bees! I find it just the right size because our regular Hummer wont share anyway — he zooms at any other hummer who dares approach, then returns so self-confidently that he simply perches while sipping, not hovering!

I hung this in my urban backyard in San Francisco. I had occassionally seen a hummingbird or two before. Within days, they found this feeder. Within weeks, I had multiple regular visitors. It really attracts them, and it is a pleasure to watch them.

This little feeder is well constructed and easy to clean and fill. I recommond it highly.

If you like to observe hummingbirds…and want a feeder that is easy to clean and attractive…this is the one to get. I have bought many over the years…many very colorful, blown glass, etc….but usually leaked and were hard to clean. My prettiest feeder was ignored by the hummingbirds. This one is everything I’ve been looking for. I thought it looked so plain in the ad….okay…a little plain it is….but hung in the tree…it looks sleek and neat…the color red really seems to attract the birds….and the hummingbirds love it. Also, I like that it has a perch for them to stand on while they drink…proof positive…simple is better…get this one!

    No drips – I’m happy
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this feeder to avoid the dripping that all the jar type feeders I’ve used have been afflicted with. This one can’t drip unless it’s tipped so problem solved. The little moat is easy to fill if ants are an issue. The thing I like best though after having used it for awhile is the thoroughness with which it can be cleaned. There are no nooks and crannies for bacterial buildup. My Hummer’s took to it immediately and expressed no skepticism. Not to me anyway.

    Well Designed feeder
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This item benefits from intelligent design. The hook screws into a brass nut imbedded in the base, so that should never be a problem. The top, or red portion, snaps of for easy cleaning. The top also shades the solution, slowing the break down. The ant moat works well. If you are going to feed hummers,be advised that the solution needs to be changed every two days in 90 degree heat and every four days in the 80s. The little guys don’t drink much, so most goes down the drain. This unit is easy to clean and refill. I add a cup of table sugar to 32oz of water and store in a nalgine bottle in the fridge. The solution will last two weeks which is how long it takes to empty the bottle. I found a good article on the web on the feeding of hummers and it recommended this product. This is the one you want.

    Hummer’s Dozen + Two
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have purchased at least 25 hummingbird feeders this year(some from Amazon). Until I bought two of these to try out I was never satisfied.

I either had drips or they leaked or they were hard to clean. Believe me I don’t think there is one type feeder that I haven’t tried.

This is the last feeder I have tried and it is absolutely the best. I have put all the others away, and as of today I will have purchased 14 of these!

I started out with only two feeders. The day I placed my first feeder in June I had hummingbirds(Ruby Throats only here in Delaware).

They fought, so I placed 7 feeders on my acre+ property. That solved my problem and now I estimate that I have at least 8+ birds feeding.

Please folks when it is hot, change and clean your feeder every other day. That way we keep these wonderful little birds safe. You can do it with this feeder, it is so easy to clean.

I have purchased enough hummzingers to keep a set clean and dry to fill every other day.

If you are going to feed hummingbirds YOU MUST take responsibility to keep their feeders clean and filled with fresh solution. If you cannot do it, please don’t feed them! If you are doing your job you should NEVER see mold on a feeder.

Please don’t just wipe with a paper towel. Put your feeder in hot tap water and scrub it. I will stress again it is easy to keep these feeders clean.

For really good success put out more than one feeder in different locations on your property–and plant a few good hummingbird flowers and bushes–heck, they will even come to hanging baskets of Petunias. Or wear a red shirt- they may even try to get a sip of that!

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This hummingbird feeder is just right. It’s a breeze to put together and very easy to refill…in fact, my eight-year-old is normally the one who keeps it filled. Hummingbirds started checking it out within a day or two of being hung up, and they have become regular visitors. I’ve had no problem with wasps or ants at all. This feeder also makes a nice gift for that hard-to-shop-for person. I highly recommend the Hummzinger!

  14. Patricia Sutton says:

    THE BEST Hummingbird Feeder!!!!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Author of the Peterson Hummingbird field guide, Sheri Williamson, consulted on the creation of this feeder. And it shows! Everything is thought out so that THIS feeder is THE VERY BEST hummingbird feeder available. Bees are attracted to yellow, so NO yellow on this feeder. Design enables hummingbirds (with their long bills) to feed, but no bees and wasps (which is not the case with feeders that look like upside down dish detergent bottles, where the nectar is right there and easily available to bees & wasps). Correct solution is printed inside the lid, so you can’t forget: 1 part sugar and 4 parts water — NO RED DYE. Yes, that’s all you need to put into a hummingbird feeder. The feeder has enough red on it. Red dye isn’t good for us, so why should it be good for hummingbirds? Small size is perfect, since solution should be as fresh as flower nectar. Feeders should be washed & cleaned out thoroughly at least once a week, or every few days in hot weather. With a small feeder like this, you’re not wasting lots of sugar water when you dump it (and contributing to more loss of natural habitat to sugar cane fields). Of course when hummingbirds are thick during migration (late June through early August in the NE), feeders may be empty every day. The trick to attracting & holding hummingbirds is to have more than 1 feeder, and place them so that one bossy, territorial male can not see all the feeders and defend them all, keeping other hungry hummingbirds away. 1 feeder = 1 bossy male Ruby-throated Hummingbird in the NE. 5 feeders (scattered around the yard and in your hummingbird garden) will more likely attract nesting hummingbirds and lots of migrants.

Feeders alone are not the key. Nectar (or the correct solution in hummingbird feeders) helps maintain a hummingbird’s high metabolism, but hummingbirds can not live on nectar or a sugar solution alone! They also feed heavily on insects (spiders and other soft-bodied insects, like aphids). So, be sure to also garden for hummingbirds, and avoid the use of insecticides! And let the aphids be. Nature will take care of them. Ladybugs and hummingbirds will enjoy your aphid smorgasborg.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was sceptical about attracting hummingbirds because I live very close to downtown Seattle and had tried the oval glass “drip style” feeders without success (they are messy, attract bugs, and are hard to clean). In addition to being exceptionally easy to clean, wasps don’t bother it, bugs don’t get in, and now I have several hummingbirds using them…I already have two and am getting another due to hummingbird demand!!!!!

I have been feeding hummers for over 10 years and this by far is the best one I have ever owned. My resident fuss budget hummer “Humbo” has made it his favorite. I am going to replace my old feed with another one of these. Best features are it is so easy to clean, it is easy to clean the mold off it, plus does not get much mold on it and the clear dish is easy to see when it needs to be refilled.

    perches are lame
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The thing with Hummzingers is they all have a perch, I cant find one without, are there any? and that makes the birds lazy and they sit and feed, then take off. maybe its ME? but is not the coolest thing about these birds is watching them AS the WINGS are MOVING? why WHY does anyone want to watch one of these birds sitting still? add to that if they are sitting, and this is the time you happen to look at your feeder, from any direction you are at, there is even more chance that you wont even notice they are there at all, and even worse is at sunrise with low light, not cool. That is when they seem to come around allot, and my best times before taking off to work are to see them, all of a sudden something flies away, oh look! oh to late, only saw it for a second. lame. my perky feeder with no perch works great, but it has yellow flowers.

I am looking all over and I cant seem to find a feeder, like this: no perch, no yellow, plastic or glass, easy to clean feeder and parts, hanging type. can anyone tell me? thanks.

Great size for a hummingbird feeder
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This small size is great. The feeder holds just one cup of food which is more than our local hummingbirds can consume in a week (we have just 2-4 hummingbirds in our yard). Though a couple of insects found their way inside, overall, we haven’t had any ant or wasp problems with this feeder. Here’s something fun to try–instead of using sugar, we filled our feeder with a concoction of 1/4 cup agave nectar and 3/4 cup water. The hummingbirds love it!

Excellent product & made in the USA
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Easy clean, easy fill! And it DOESN’T leak. I actually like it better than the bigger size. Humming birds are always in a squabble over whose feeder it is and whose turn it is to eat. This seems to be less of a problem with the smaller feeder. even though I have to fill it more often. Acompaning bee guards would be nice though. Another plus for all the Hummzinger feeders is that there is no view obstructing center nectar column.

    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This was a bad choice for my area because, the flickers just sit on it and suck the thing dry. There is just to much space on top for the bigger birds to hang out.

    But… NO BEES.

    Best Hummer Feeder
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the best feeder out there, and I have tried them all. No leaking, easy to clean and refill. I like the smaller capacity because I throw out a lot of surup. No need for 6 feeding ports because the little brats don’t like to share anyway!

  23. R. Mandl says:

    Dandy little feeder
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Hummzinger is a very good product because of its simplicity.

The red part is a lid that pops on and off, and the rod screws into an ant moat. That’s it. The perch is nice, too–they don’t really need it, but it makes for better observation.

I’d recommend the 8 oz. model, unless you have a resident squadron. Hummingbird feeders need to be drained and cleaned every 2-3 days, or they harbor bacteria. For us, the larger one would stay full too long. Also, the extra holes don’t matter, because there’s usually a heavy who rules the roost; you ain’t gonna see six birds a-sipping.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably considering buying one. Don’t worry–buy it. When you get it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t design it.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The feeder is easy to use, easy to fill & easy to clean. I’ve had it about a month and while only one little guy has discovered it so far, he seems delighted! He even sits on the tiny rail around the edge, something I did not expect. I don’t think I’d ever seen a hummer sit down before. If he brings friends, I will end up getting the larger version.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My hummingbords are so jealous they don’t let any other birds near this feeder. They love being able to stand on the rim although 2 won’t use it at the same time, but you do have to refill the 8 oz bowl a couple times a a week.

    What’s not to like?
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve experimented with at least a dozen hummingbird feeders (and countless other feeders) over the past few years. I’ve ditched all the other hummingbird feeders since they are too hard to clean or keep clean and since the hummingbirds are perfectly happy with this one. Put it in the top rack of your dishwasher and you’re done. No ant moat is needed. For cost, convenience, and value, I don’t know of any better options.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This hummingbird feeder is terrific. I had another brand, which was not as durable or mold resistent. This one is made of quality material, is easy to clean, and is sturdy. My three hummers love this feeder and constantly batter each other to get a drink. You won’t go wrong with this one.

  28. Still Learning says:

    The best on the market
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The only feeder to use–solid, safe, birds love it. The mote keeps ants out (and is a handy water source for chickadees). Sorry to override another reviewer but the birds have tongues that extend beyond their beaks, and so can reach all the way to the bottom just fine, though the feeder should be cleaned and the water changed way before it comes to that, every day or two in hot weather. Cleaning is easy — a little brush through the feeding holes and pop it into the top of the dishwasher.

  30. SJ says:

    Nectar waste
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This feeder does a good job of attracting hummingbirds, the problem is they will abandon the feeder before the nectar is gone because their beaks are not long enough to reach past the half way mark. So basically, you need to fill it up more frequently and never let it get lower than 1/2 full. The perches, however, seem to be the right spacing.

Aspects’ Mini HummZinger 8-fl.oz. hummingbird feeder
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Of the many hummingbird feeders I’ve tried over the years, this is the only one that will not leak (indeed, cannot leak) even in the hottest weather. It’s easily cleaned without special brushes, etc. and the clear reservoir permits ready inspection for foreign matter, spoilage, etc. Its one drawback is the size of its integral ant moat. Because the moat holds only a small amount of water, it must be checked daily in warm weather, lest evaporation reduce the water level to the point it no longer functions as an effective ant barrier. The mini, like all HummZinger models, can be mounted on a length of 5/8-inch dowel or 3/4-inch copper pipe (in lieu of hanging). However, doing so provides ants and other crawling insects a path to the sugar water.

Great Feeder – easy to use, attract lots of birds
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love this mini feeder. I read review after review before buying this one and I can see why it has so many fans. I live in a Very industrial area and the big red cap has no problem attracting multiple birds at a time. (Small ones get chased away, so I am considering a second one!) I have had this feeder for 2 months and like the 8 oz size since our patio is small, and frequent replenishment keeps the nectar solution fresh.

The design is solid and well thought-out. The ant moat is very effective although some tiny flying insects do make it in through the ports (they sell some membranes you can attach to prevent this, but it’s not that big of a deal for me). I never worry a wind will blow it apart or off its hook. Since the ports are raised, rain doesn’t dilute the nectar solution easily. The all-around perch is great (a rare feature on feeders!) and allows you to see birds well while they rest and drink. Also, I am a big neat freak and love how easy it is to clean and refill this feeder.

  40. Juniper Nichols says:

No more bees, no drips, a snap to clean!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I initially bought a classic “perky pet” feeder, with the glass jar draining down into several feeding “flowers.” Despite the bee guards, I often saw yellowjackets hovering around it. They squeezed themselves along the underside of the bee guards to get dribbles that leaked out of the flowers. Also, I learned that bees are drawn to yellow (the color of the plastic flowers). I’m sure ants would have found the dribbles before long, as well – there were even splatters on my deck.

Also, there was no way to be sure the plastic base was really clean when I refilled it. I’ve heard you can poison hummers with fungus, if the feeders are not cleaned thoroughly every 3-4 days. Fungus just loves sugar water.

I looked at some hummingbird afficionado sites and apparently the hummzinger models are the way to go. The simple construction is very easy to scrub out; no hidden recesses for fungus to grow. There is no yellow on it, so less attractive to bees. I have not seen one yellowjacket since installing this! No drips, and bees can’t reach nectar through the openings.

It should be refilled even when it is not empty, both because of fungus growth (I have found fungus after waiting too long), and also because it seems a bit deep for hummers to reach the bottom, unless they are a long-billed variety. (I have Anna’s hummers).

I had some trouble getting the lid off for cleaning, untill I realized I could just use the brass hanger to push the base down while pulling the lid upwards.

It’s worth the frequent cleaning when I can sit in my living room watching the birds enjoy their nectar. This feeder makes the maintenance as easy as possible.

After going through a series of hummingbird feeders over the last several years, I have put the other models in the basement and have 2 of these HummZingers up. And here in the NE US in late August I am enjoying “hummingbird wars” outside as 4 or 5 RTHU jockey for time at the feeders.

As other reviewers have observed, this model solves the cleaning, bee, and ant problems inherent in most other designs. They work as advertised and the capacity is more than sufficient for my modest troop of hummers. A very good product.

I love the Hummzinger feeders, they are the only type I own now. We have 3 feeders in the yard and so many hummer’s they empty the feeder’s daily to every other day. These feeder’s are easy to clean, and that means everything to me when it comes to humming bird feeders. If you hassel with other types of feeder’s you know how hard they can be to clean up. The Hummzinger’s take seconds to rinse & clean – and back into place with ease. Worth the extra money!

I recently purchased this Hummzinger to replace one I’d used for 7 years. There wasn’t much that needed improvement, but they’ve thought of everything. It’s still easy to clean and fill, but the plastic is sturdier and the bees are unable to enter and drown. I highly recommend this feeder.

    Best feeder yet!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I live in Maryland, so I am not overrun with hummers, but I do get around five at my house. Before this feeder, I would just throw the feeder away at the end of the year, it is so hard to get the mold off, and you’re not supposed to use soap. This feeder is VERY easy to clean!! A few swipes with a wet paper towel, and you’re ready to go!! Also, it is quite windy where I place this feeder, and on windy days, it hardly even moves. Another plus is that it is not glass, so if I were to drop it, or a squirrel knocked it down, I don’t have shattered glass to clean up. I like that I had a choice in the number of ports because I don’t get many hummers. It holds up to 8 oz, I usually only put in about 4 oz, so I don’t have to have a lot of nectar on hand. If I were to attract more, I could get one with more ports that could hold more nectar. I’ve had a number of feeders, and this is my favorite by far!!

  47. W. Gross says:

Attracts hummers and easy to clean
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This feeder is very effective at drawing in hummingbirds, probably because it looks like a big, red flower; and it is easy to clean–which other feeders I have tried are not. It also has an effective ant trap, and it doesn’t dribble, so it won’t attract yellowjackets. A downside is its small capacity, so it’s most appropriate for locations that are not overrun with hummingbirds. (If you put out this feeder in Southern Arizona, you’d be refilling it every hour.)
